About this collection

  • Printed to order on heavyweight, garment-dyed Comfort Colors 1717
  • Sizes S–2XL in colors from Ivory and Butter to Moss and Black
  • Antique field-guide and specimen-chart art with fake, funny descriptions

They look like they were torn from a 19th-century naturalist's notebook: neat rows of specimens, careful ink drawings and tiny labels. Read the labels, though, and things go sideways. Ravens ranked by how much they're plotting. Moths of ill repute. Sharks of questionable character. Fungi you should not trust.

Most of our field guides are parodies, and a few straight ones are on the way. Either way, they're for nature nerds, dark-academia fans and anyone who reads the fine print.

Frequently asked questions

Are the descriptions real?
Not on the parody ones. The drawings look scientific, and the labels are jokes. Take a closer look once you've got one on.
What's the style based on?
Antique natural-history plates and specimen charts, the kind you'd find framed in an old library.
How does the sizing run?
It's a relaxed unisex fit. Order your usual size for a classic fit, or size up for an oversized look. There's a size chart on every product page.
Will the print fade?
The ink is printed directly into the cotton. Wash it inside out in cold water and it holds up well. Garment-dyed shirts mellow a little over time, which is part of the look.
Are they made to order?
Yes. Every shirt is printed when you order it, which means no warehouse full of leftovers and a wider choice of colors.
